Funded Brass Lessons

For 10 weeks (split over terms 5 and 6) Kate is working in partnership with Dynamics – The Medway Music Education Hub to offer fully funded brass lessons at Balfour Junior School. We now have a mixture of trumpet, tenor horn and trombone students who have taken their first steps in learning a brass instrument. Kate is thrilled to have been able to instigate these lessons at BJS and has been really impressed at how well the students have taken to their instruments (which have been loaned to the students free of charge by Dynamics). We hope that this 10 week introduction will lead to an ongoing love of music and a some new recruits into this next generation of brass players!

Keyboard Club is Resuming!

We are very happy to announce that we are able to resume Keyboard Club at Balfour Infant School next term, after the Easter break. Sessions will be available to pupils in Years 1 and 2, and will run after school on Wednesdays from 3:15-4pm. Spaces will be limited to apply now to secure a place for your child. Unfortunately due to the way the Year Group departures are staggered at the end of the school day we are not able to welcome pupils from Year R at this time, but we are keen to run a session for Year R children as soon as we are able to. We are also waiting for other opportunities at the school to be able to offer both the Recorder Club and Balfour Buzzers.

Music Clubs Temporarily Suspended at Balfour Infant School

Due to the ongoing restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are currently unable to run Music Clubs at Balfour Infant School. We are keeping in regular contact with Ms Atkinson, the Headteacher, who will give us the go-ahead to run clubs in school as soon as it is safe to do so.

Until then, if anybody wishes to start or continue learning an instrument and is happy to do so via Lessons on Skype please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Online Summer Concert 2020

During the lockdown and ongoing school closures of Spring and Summer 2020 some of my pupils from the Music Clubs we run at Balfour Infant School continued their instrumental learning with Kate online, via Skype.

Usually the children would perform a Summer Concert in the school hall – an event which showcases to their families how much they have learned during the course of the year.

This year, since the school was closed, we put together an online concert; we hope you enjoy it!
