School Address:
Balfour Junior School, Balfour Road, Chatham, Kent, ME4 6QX
We are currently delivering private music lessons at Balfour Junior School on the following instruments:
- Piano
- Recorder
- Tenor Horn
- Trombone
- Trumpet / Cornet
- Other brass instruments on request
Lessons are delivered on a 1-1 or small group basis and will last for 30 minutes, taking place either during the lunchtime break or the afternoon session at school. A rotating timetable may be operated so that pupils don’t keep missing the same class session each week. Even though the lesson time may change each week, the day of the week for your child’s lesson will remain constant for the term.
Lessons are being delivered by Kate.
FUNDED GROUP SESSIONS
Further to offering private lessons, we are also pleased to be delivering fully funded group brass and keyboard lessons at Balfour Junior School to a limited number of pupils. In 23-24 we are teaching 4x 30 minute group lessons; 1x trumpets, 1x tenor horns and 2x keyboards. These lessons are provided free of charge to you, and an instrument and music book will be provided for the duration of the time your child is attending the sessions. These sessions are very popular, so if your child is interested in joining the waiting list please contact Mr Farmer. Please DO NOT try to sign up for these lessons via our website, all applications must be made via the school. Children are usually eligible to receive 30 funded sessions, after which they can apply to continue lessons with us privately at school.
These lessons are funded by Dynamics – The Medway Music Hub (https://www.dynamicsmedway.co.uk/licensedmusicteachers), with whom we work as Licensed Music Teachers, and are delivered by Kate.

Resources:
Please check the Resources page which has information on what your child will need, including links for buying / hiring instruments, cases and books and a breakdown of the set-up costs. It is important to consider factors such as set-up cost, instrument size and weight etc. before choosing the best option(s) for your child. Bear in mind that they will need to carry their own instrument(s) and book(s) so this might be a factor in helping you decide which one(s) you choose.
