All lessons are subject to a 24 hour notice period for cancellation. Any lesson cancelled with more than 24 hours notice will not be charged. Any cancellation with less than 24 hours notice will not be rearranged and will still be charged. We will always do our best to accommodate requests to alter timetables in advance, so please do give us as much notice as possible if you can see a timetabling issue which will affect you.



All fees are calculated on a pro rata basis so if your lesson length varies from those stated below the fee will be calculated accordingly.

Fees are payable upon receipt of an invoice from Sound Roots, and commitment is on an ongoing basis.  Should you wish to cancel your child’s Music Club membership or instrumental lessons please confirm this in writing by emailing us. All fees are subject to annual review, and are kept in line with the Musicians’ Union’s recommended rates.

Balfour Infant School

Each 45 minute Music Club session costs £9.50, and there are usually 6 sessions per term (so £57 for the term). If your child is receiving, or has received, either Free School Meals or Pupil Premium funding during the past 6 years then a subsidised rate may be available. (Balfour Infant School / Sound Roots cannot accept financial responsibility if this question is answered incorrectly, though we will do everything we can to ensure funding is applied appropriately to any student who qualifies for it). 

Balfour Junior School

Each 30 minute 1-1 or small group lesson costs £21.25, and there are usually 6 sessions per term (so £127.50 for the term). If your child is receiving, or has received, either Free School Meals or Pupil Premium funding during the past 6 years then a subsidised rate may be available. (Balfour Junior School / Sound Roots cannot accept financial responsibility if this question is answered incorrectly, though we will do everything we can to ensure funding is applied appropriately to any student who qualifies for it).

Online Lessons

Each 30 minute 1-1 online lesson costs £21.25.

Private Tuition

Lessons are charged at £21.25 per half hour, and are usually only offered during term time (unless special arrangements are made to have lessons during the school holidays). As such there are usually 6 lessons per half term and fees are invoiced accordingly.
